Foundation and Basement Excavation
Foundation and Basement Excavation in Coeur d’Alene
The dig under a house has to be right the first time. Mfditanzania excavates footings, crawl spaces, and full basements across Coeur d’Alene to plan depth and dimension, with over-dig for forms and a compacted, level bearing surface for the concrete. Because the Kootenai County frost line runs near 24 inches, footings go below it so the freeze does not heave the foundation on a lot off Government Way.
Why Depth and Drainage Come First
- Below the frost line. A footing set above the frost depth lifts and cracks every winter. We dig to the plan depth the building department requires.
- Managed spoil. Excavated dirt is stockpiled or hauled so the site stays workable and the pad stays clean.
- Water routed away. We grade and, where called for, set drain rock and pipe so groundwater and snowmelt drain off the footing instead of pooling.
Our Process
We begin with an 811 locate and a staked layout, then excavate to depth, keeping the trench walls safe with sloping or a trench box on any cut 5 feet and deeper per OSHA. The bearing surface is compacted and checked before forms go in. On wet or rocky ground we adjust the approach and let you know what it means for the schedule.
